Toor Dal/Spiced Dal

Ingredients

Adjust Servings
1 cup toor dal
1 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
½ tsp mustard seeds
1 dry red chilli
½ cup chopped onion
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp garam masala
3 cups of water
2 tsp coconut paste
coriander leaves – to garnish (optional)

Directions

1.

Soak the dal in water for 15-20 minutes. Drain, rinse and set aside separately.

Press the “Sauté” mode and wait for 30 seconds for the inner cooking pot to heat up. Add the oil and wait for 10 seconds till the oil heats.

Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Wait until the cumin seeds turns brown.

Add the dried red chilli and chopped onion; sauté until onion gets partly cooked.

Add salt to taste, garam masala, soaked dal and sauté for a minute. Finally add 3 cups of water. Now press cancel button.

Press the “Dal” mode.

After Pre-Cooking is done, the cooking countdown will appear. After cooking, it stops with a beep sound and automatically switches to Keep Warm mode. Press Cancel button if warming is not required.

Once cooking is complete, wait for 10 minutes to get Natural Pressure Release. It can be released manually by pulling Up the pressure release button.

Serve hot dal, garnished with coriander. Tastes best with rice/rotis.
